ONE Federal Credit Union Celebrates 75 Years of Community Impact

ONE Federal Credit Union headquartered in Meadville, PA, is marking its 75th anniversary with a year-long celebration centered around its "ONE Wish" initiative. By granting wishes to local organizations, the credit union is significantly impacting the Meadville, Saegertown, Conneaut Lake, and Cochranton communities.

The ONE Wish program is a testament to the credit union's commitment to fostering a thriving community. By funding 75 community-enriching projects in 2024, with a total expenditure of $75,000, the credit union is demonstrating its dedication to the well-being of its members and neighbors. Examples of funded projects include:

  • An Eagle Scout initiative.

  • New pee-wee football helmets.

  • A revitalized elementary school playground.

To mark their 75th anniversary, ONE Federal Credit Union CEO Heather Clancy-Young challenged her employees to devise a creative way to celebrate. The team responded by proposing a unique initiative: funding 75 wishes to improve the community. Clancy-Young's mandate for the team was to "create smiles by granting wishes."

"My goal was to surprise individuals or organizations in our community with a gift and make a difference in their lives." - Heather Clancy-Young

The ONE Wish application process was simple, with an online form posted on the credit union's website. Over 300 applications were received, and a committee carefully selected 75 projects to be funded.

The ONE Wish program's largest project, funded at $10,000, is for the construction of an inclusive playground. This playground will be a valuable asset to the community, providing a safe and enriching play environment for children of all abilities. The playground will be designed to meet ADA accessibility standards, and will also include features that are specifically designed to be autism-friendly. The playground will be a wonderful addition to the community and will provide a much-needed resource for children and families.

The credit union team was particularly proud to support a wish to a homeless women's and children's shelter. The funding was used to renovate the kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms, providing a more comfortable and supportive environment for the shelter's residents.

One particularly impactful wish was awarded to a student pursuing a career in underground welding at Crawford Tech. The student received a $750 gift and a 0% loan for the same amount to purchase essential welding equipment and supplies. The wish helped the student financially and demonstrated the credit union's commitment to supporting education and career development.

Enhanced Software Products, Inc. (ESP), the credit union's core processing provider, also contributed to a community project to replace outdated 4H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) rabbit hutches at the Crawford County Fairgrounds. Our President/CEO, Shaun Murray, was in attendance for the 75th celebration and participated in the campaign.

"For Heather and her team to allow us to be a part of something that has an immediate impact in a community was very humbling. We have been partners for over 28 years, and what ONE Federal Credit Union has done and is doing in their community is wonderful to see. They are truly carrying the credit union philosophy into their communities", said Shaun Murray.

Through the ONE Wish initiative, ONE Federal Credit Union has demonstrated its dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of its members and neighbors. The ONE Wish program is a testament to the credit union's belief in the power of community engagement and its unwavering commitment to giving back.
