Blackpoint Cyber Fast-Tracks Ransomware Response

On March 21st, 2022, President Biden issued a press release warning of the potential for cyberattacks initiated by Russia.

In the United States, a considerable portion of critical infrastructure is owned and maintained by the private sector. In this release, Biden states, "I urge our private sector partners to harden your cyber defenses immediately."

The Biden-Harris Administration has also released a fact sheet that urges businesses to implement internet security measures quickly. MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication), updating all security patches, backing up data, and cyber-security training for all employees were specifically mentioned. Also of significance is to "deploy modern security tools on your computers and devices to continuously look for and mitigate threats."

In response, our MDR (Managed Detection and Response) vendor, Blackpoint Cyber, has announced that they have fast-tracked the release of their newest automated capability - Ransomware Response.

Blackpoint Cyber CEO Jon Murchison stated, "I believe that the President's [Biden] formal statement is an indication that the US government has specific intelligence requiring our utmost attention and focus on reducing the IT attack surface."

Ransomware Response acts as an additional layer of automated defense against all types of ransomware attacks. Blackpoint Cyber will release Ransomware Response free of charge to their entire partner base following testing and validation.

Enhanced Software Products, Inc. uses Blackpoint Cyber technology as a part of a holistic approach to security and now offers Blackpoint MDR as a managed service to its credit union clients.

"MDR ensures that you aren't going it alone: someone always has an eye on your environment and can help protect your network from these evolving threats." – Alex Ray
