ESP Breaks Clays for Charity

May 14, 2021 - The Team from ESP had the opportunity to participate in a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Inland Northwest. The event, a Sporting Clays tournament, brought in shotgunners from around the region to Landt Farms Sporting Clays in Nine Mile Falls, WA.

Spokane is a regional hub for pediatric medical care with four hospitals, multiple clinics, and numerous specialists. Ronald McDonald House Charities provides temporary lodging, social and emotional support, at no charge, for families of children accessing medical services.

All skill levels were represented on ESP's Team with a strong contingent of advanced shooters and several few first-timers. ESP's Matt Lefler was instrumental in fielding ESP's entry. He provided coaching and ensured all team members exercised safety to make the event enjoyable for all.

A good analogy is that Sporting Clays is a mix of skeet shooting and golf. Participants walk a course with multiple stations where they shoot between four and eight clay pigeons. Each station is different, which adds to the fun of the sport. Clays can come from any direction at differing speeds, which makes for a very challenging sport.

Team members included Lexi Szabo, Sean Hibbler, Kyle Wolfley, Alex Ray, and Matt Lefler. The Team was supported by Tyler Szabo as scorekeeper and John Demke as a photographer.

Overall, the event brought in $35,000 for Ronald MacDonald House. ESP, too faired well. Although our Team didn't win any group or individual awards, two raffle prizes were won. There is interest in forming a ladies team at the office to compete in next year's tournament.
